This has been my longest running project. It started before almost any of my other songs and has taken over an entire year to complete. This was mainly due to my months of hunting for a suitable and willing vocalist to do the lead. I honestly can't thank SynCallio enough for her work.

The song's idea originated from Fallout Equestria, the fan fiction. In the fic, there's a couple of lyrics written to a song, about regret. I took those few lyrics and expanded them into a full song. People who have read the fic will probably recognise parts of the song for that reason.

While this song didn't originally have a specific target, I did submit it to the charity album, From Equestria with Love. Unfortunately the album was cancelled due to Hasbro's copyright laws. In the end I decided to just upload and post it as a single!

_____________
How did this happen? What have I done?
I was only trying to help, but I caused so much pain.
I wish I could hide. Wish I could run.
I wish I could find a way to do it again...

I lost sight of the war while fighting my battles.
And now I carry the weight of the world on my saddle...
I lost sight of the war while fighting my battles.
And now I carry the weight of the world on my saddle...

The pain I feel, how can I explain?
The shame of losing, when you're trying to gain.
Why must we ponies, be so full of hate.
The heartache revealed that regret is our fate...

I broke off from my friendship to fight for the cause.
Now all that's left is the missile through the heavens it soars.
I broke off from my friendship to fight for the cause.
Now all that's left is the missile through the heavens it soars.

The sufferin' is nothing; I've been put in my place.
The horrors of the war I myself should have faced.
The place that I've come to, the bitter regret,
I have to forge on; we can still mend this yet!

How can I fix this? How many times must I try?
Please, this time let me get it right!

I rear up on my hooves; throw a buck in the air,
And let firm resolve overwhelm my despair!
I rear up on my hooves; throw a buck in the air,
And let firm resolve overwhelm my despair!

Now all that's left, is the anger I feel.
Ashamed I wander searching for hope in this minefield.

I found what I knew was there all along,
Regret.
