The next bit includes spoilers from Background Pony, so if you're reading the fic, or plan to, and don't want it spoiled, don't read ahead! I did try to make the song as spoiler free as possible though, you you're probably safe actually listening to it. Maybe.

Anyway yeah, I found the fic incredibly engaging, and the storytelling vivid, and capable of immersing the reader in the events that go down throughout, and the characters' emotions, so it was a total joy to read. The ending was pretty devastating as well. Having a little firsthand experience with people suffering memory loss, imagining Lyra not only losing her mind, but still being cursed until the end of her days was truly heartbreaking. That last chapter with her journal entries slowly losing coherence and a grasp of reality or time is rough, and is what inspired this song. It takes place during her last encounter with the princess of the unsung realm, and follows through the events that unfold afterwards. I can only hope I managed to capture some of the heaviness of the original story.

Musically, I thought I'd make a simpler song than I'm used to. I haven't been happy with my more recent output, or with the fact that I didn't work on any music at all during the semester, so I thought I'd attempt to tackle a song in under two weeks, and well, this is the result. Please, don't hesitate to throw feedback at me, on how this could have been improved, 'cause it only helps me grow. Cheers, and thanks for listening!
