This is our 6th music video, and is our most involved musical production to date. Overall the song is inspired by Discord and the many aspects of his personality. Each section portrays a different element of his motivations and behavior. Although we have our own specific ideas of what the sections mean, it’s up to you to interpret them on your own! We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comment section.
With each song, we try to do something new and a little different. For this one we decided to perform the piece as an instrumental with no lyrical content, allowing the melodies alone to tell the story. Additionally, we switched up the band’s lineup a little bit for the first time: Dylzal played bass guitar and PlunderSteed played piano and synths. Finally, this is also the first time we’ve taken a distributed approach to the songwriting. Each member wrote a different section, then presented it to the other members to critique and tweak to ensure it flowed with the rest of the composition. At nearly 12 minutes in length, it is by far our longest piece yet. This production was very challenging in ways that we did not anticipate, since it frequently put us outside of our comfort zones.
A separate video will be available in the coming week, where we share our thoughts on the nitty gritty parts of the production.
We hope you enjoy the song, and we look forward to answering your questions. As this video goes live, we are already almost halfway through recording our next song, and we have even begun writing the song that will be released after that.
