So here's something different - a purely instrumental track! I've been wanting to write and dedicate a song to Octavia (the most wonderful and best pony ever) for a very long time now, and this is it! Octavia, the Element of Music (named after the background image drawn by Tadashi--kun)! Hope you enjoy!

I began working on last year, under the amazingly creative title "cello piano thing2.flp" (the violin wasn't added until later). It was actually finished around late November, but I hummed and ha'd and shuffled my feet for weeks before deciding to upload it - you see, I had a TREMENDOUS difficulty modulating the AHDSR envelope, which caused me no end of consternation. Indeed, it's still not perfect - I have a long way to go yet! - but ultimately, I'm quite pleased with the end result. I have to say, writing this taught me a LOT about manipulating instruments in Kontakt.

The song itself is influenced heavily by Romantic music, and follows a rounded binary form: the A section in B flat major (led by the cello), the B section beginning shortly after the introduction of the violin (modulating down to the relative minor in G, as opposed to the typical modulation to the dominant key), and then returning to the A' section with the cello and violin playing in harmony. With the ending, I tried to pull of something Borodin-esque (I had been listening to the third movement of string quartet no. 2 in D major a lot around when I started writing this). Not sure if it worked, but I was happy with it.

Anyway, not much else to say on this! Hope you all like it!
