This song's actually got two different stories to it - or perhaps more accurately, two different interpretations of the same story. On one hand, and I think this is the one I originally had in mind when I started working on the track, it tries to capture Twilight's rather hectic first day in Ponyville and the warm welcome she received (even if she wasn't entirely receptive of it), eventually ending with her acceptance of her new friends and her embracing of a new life, radically different from the one she was used to. On the other, I think we can generalize that and say it's the warm welcome that Ponyville would give any newcomer. I think the latter interpretation is one that resonates more closely with us and better fits with the feel of the song, personally, but how you choose to read into it is entirely up to you.

Regardless, I wanted to include the entire Mane 6 because, if nothing else, they really embody the spirit of the town. If you listen closely you'll notice that each has her own musical cue of sorts: Applejack's is hard to pick out, but she's got little variations on the bassline; Pinkie has that high, sugary synth; Rarity has a classy pseudo-Rhodes e-piano; Fluttershy has a flute; Rainbow Dash has a guitar; and Twilight has her friends! and a little sparkley background synth thing. But mostly her friends!

What started out as just a little season 4 celebration song* quickly turned into what is possibly the most ambitious piece of sound that I've ever attempted. I like to think it's pretty telling of how excited I am about this stupid little girls' show that's become such a big part of my life over the past couple of years. I know it's not perfect but I'm super proud of how it turned out and I really really hope you like it as much as I do!

* Yes, this was supposed to be released with the season 4 premiere. Hahaha oops
